About Scott & Lindee
McNaughton
What started as working a few horses for mates has turned into providing years of knowledge and experience in a full education program for both horses and humans. Founded on the proven techniques of connection and understanding. We always believe that offering the horse a better deal builds a better working relationship.
Teaching Through Experience
OUR GOAL FOR OVER 25 YEARS
Confusion, fear, anger, frustration, laughter, success, stress, exhaustion, loneliness, partnership, and friendship.
Experiences we hope to pass on, teach, support and celebrate with each horse and rider we work with.
About Scott
Growing up with both parents rodeoing, it seemed only natural for Scott to continue on and for several years Scott rode saddle bronc both in Australia and overseas in Canada/America. During these younger years, holidays were spent at either one of his uncle's - Bruce and Peter Mcnaughton, both who are renowned Horsemen and campdraft competitors
Starting young horses was something Scott was introduced to at an early age and so began a path of learning how to work with the horse.
Working on various cattle properties Scott continued to break in horses on the side, but eventually decided to take on breaking in and working horses full time.
In 2000 both Scott and Lindee attended a Ray Hunt clinic in Wingen NSW and from there began a lifelong journey that continues till this day to offering the horse a better way. That one clinic has paved the way and opened their eyes up to learning a seeking way to allow the horse to learn and trust you.
In 2007 Scott and Lindee moved to Dubbo to take up a job with cutting horse trainer Graham Amos. For the next 3 years, Scott worked under Graham (Mouse) learning to start and educate horses for cutting and showing cutting horses. After finishing up with Graham, Scott and Lindee opened their own breaking-in and training business based in the Tamworth NSW region.
Come 20011 Scott attended a Buck Brennaman clinic in Tamworth which aligned a lot with what he had seen with Ray Hunt. It was at this clinic that Scott and Lindee met Jaton Lord (Ray Hunt’s grandson) and were introduced to Reined Cow Horse. To this day Jaton, his wife and son are good friends with Scott and Lindee and when visiting Australia still do Clinics that Scott and Lindee organise.
For the last 6 years, Scott has moved to helping people with their own horses and teaching them how a horse thinks and how to work with a horse. To share what he has learnt while working with many different horses. He enjoys helping people with that journey and can understand where they are at, because he remembers being there himself.
Scott continues to train a select few client horses for the Reined Cow Horse, and also works with horses for all cow-related events.
About Lindee
Lindee grew up on the family farm in Merriwa NSW where her parents bred their own ASH (Parkway Allaby) which were used for work on the farm, but also to compete in ASH challenges / classes and campdrafting. From an early age Lindee knew she wanted to work with horses and her parents encouraged her to attend as many clinics as she could. Lindee’s parents often also hosted a trainer from overseas, that Lindee spent time with continuing to build her skills. At the age of 15 Lindee travelled to Canada to work under a horse trainer there and learn everything she could.
On return, Lindee did a stint of droving, and worked show horse for the royal shows. Soon after Lindee meets Scott, joined him with starting breakers. Together they quickly began what they now call - their way of life.
For Lindee horses are not just a job or a sport, they are her soul, and they have given her so much in her life.
In 2023 Lindee completed her Graduation in Equine facilitated Therapy under Kylie Peters from Groundwork Therapy, to better her understanding of the people and their relationship with horses. This has led to Lindee, Scott and Kylie forming Transition Forward, where the 3 travel Australia teaching workshops to better understand your horse to understand yourself.

The McNaughton Family
Together Scott and Lindee have three children, who all ride and compete. They all share a common appreciation for the horse and this way of life. As a family, they have started to breed their own horses on their beautiful property based in Dungowan NSW, where they also hold clinics/lessons to educate clients on horses throughout the year and share their passion. Together they aim to breed horses with cow, temperament and more importantly heart.
There is something special about a horse that gives you its all - whatever that may look like.
